About Course

This is a distinctive online course about society and culture of English-speaking countries. Its contents is the combination of traditional classics and fashion of the times. The language is precise and concise， vivid and alive. The course systematically introduces the geography, history, politics, economy, education, festivals, and literature of the two major English-speaking countries -the UK and the USA. It can help the learners broaden their international horizons and cultivate their good qualities.

Course Staff

	Feng Yanling Lecturer South-Central Minzu University School of Foreign Languages Feng Yanling is a lecturer in the School of Foreign Languages, South-Central Minzu University. She received her M.A. in English Language and Literature at Central China Normal University. As a senior instructor of English public speaking and debating, she is the head coach of the English public speaking and debating team of South-Central Minzu University. She is the second runner-up for coaches in the 2015 “FLTRP Cup” English Public Speaking Contest, and has helped her students to win 29 national rewards and more than 50 provincial-level rewards in various contests of English public speaking, debating, translation, writing, etc. She was honored as the “May Fourth Youth Pacemaker of the Faculty”, “Excellent Communist Party Member”, “Excellent Instructor of Student’s Innovation in South-Central Minzu University” and so forth. Her research interests mainly include English education, British and American literature, and comparison between Chinese and Western language and culture. She has presided over one provincial first-class undergraduate course and a number of teaching and research projects. She also won the third prize in the Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers of Hubei Province for her course “Society and Culture of English-Speaking Countries”. Being skillful at teaching, she is an outstanding teacher who endears herself to many students, and has thus received excellent results in teacher quality assessment for years.
	Yi Lixin Professor South-Central Minzu University School of Foreign Languages Yi Lixin is the Dean, professor and graduate student tutor of the School of Foreign Languages, South-Central Minzu University. He is the managing director of the College Foreign Language Education Committee, Hubei Association of Higher Education. His main research interests are translation studies, philosophy of language and comparative studies of English and Chinese languages. Professor Yi has presided over multiple research and teaching projects at national, provincial and ministerial levels. He has published more than 20 research papers and edited two national planned textbooks. He has won two Teaching Achievement Awards for Higher Education of Hubei Province.
	Jin Ling Lecturer South-Central Minzu University School of Foreign Languages Jin Ling is a lecturer of Evenki ethnicity in the School of Foreign Languages, South-Central Minzu University. She graduated from Central China Normal University. Currently she focuses on the study of English language and literature. Having been teaching college English for years, she keeps adopting innovative teaching modes in her lectures, and has received the honor of “Excellent Instructor of Student’s Innovation in South-Central Minzu University” for several times. With her positive teaching outcomes, she has obtained excellent results in teacher quality assessment for consecutive years.
	Gao Feng Associate Professor South-Central Minzu University School of Foreign Languages Gao Feng is an associate professor in School of Foreign Languages, South-Central University for Nationalities. He presided over the completion of the provincial teaching and research project in Hubei Province ' Feasibility Study on the Application of CBI Teaching Mode in College English Courses in Ethnic Universities ' ; he participated in the national social science fund project and the humanities and social science project of the Ministry of Education ; he wrote the second part of the ' Twelfth Five-Year Plan ' national key planning textbook as deputy editor. Visiting Scholar, Jackson State University. He has received major honors including： 1. Teaching Benchmark of South-Central University for Nationalities; the research and practice of multi-level individualized teaching reform of college English in universities for nationalities won the first prize of university-level teaching achievements. The third prize of Hubei Province Teaching Innovation Competition
	Li Bing Lecturer South-Central Minzu University School of Foreign Languages Li Bing, a teacher at the School of Foreign Languages, Central South University for Nationalities, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Prattleville in 2004 with a master's degree in English education. His research interests are English pedagogy, American and American literature. He has published many academic papers on English teaching and American and American literature in core journals of Peking University and CSSCI journals of NTU. As a teacher of College English, Academic English, English Survey of English-speaking countries and other courses, I have been excellent in academic evaluation and teaching for many years, and I am deeply liked by students.
	Wang Xingjun Lecturer South-Central Minzu University School of Foreign Languages Wang Xingjun is a lecturer in Business English Department of the School of Foreign Languages, South-Central Minzu University. He received his M.Ec at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and his J.D. in Ethnology at South-Central Minzu University. He mainly lectures Critical Reading and Intercultural Communication for undergraduates, as well as Intercultural Communication and Translation for postgraduates. From 2015 to 2018, he was posted overseas as a Chinese consular official. He has participated in quite a few research projects at national and provincial levels. His research interests are linguistic anthropology, as well as language planning and policy.
